i think that the resources offerd here are amazingly good, only thing that i believe is that as a design technology student, not being able to use some of the tools in the workshop seems a bit of a backtrack from A level. I came here for a design technology course and not a product dsign course, there needs to be more to distinguish between the courses!!
talking to some of the other staff around campus, they didnt even know there was a DT degree, they just thought it was all product design!!
Well I have to say 10 out of 10 for this site… its perfect for product design, its just a shame it is a little late for us.
I think Derby Uni is on the up….. before you say it Karl, Terry or Mike, yes I am feeling ok……
My only opinion for the course would be more focus on fewer programs to get students to an even higher CAD level and use of photoshop to bring the sketching standard in line with the impact 3dsmax renderings have…
Thanks for your comments Stockers, its great that you mentioned about getting the CAD level up as we’ve revalidated after your year group and made several changes to ensure the CAD and visualisation is learnt and developed at stage 2 rather than stage three. Cheers

i really love the BA product design course.
i came to derby as it seemed to me to be a great place to study what i wanted to do, having visited other universitys and not really liked the courses run there at all.
the course sounded right for me, and i liked the university, and derby itself, and thats why i came.
also the blog is looking pretty interesting so far, will be watching for updates and new things appearing on here

the hack to school pages are very useful, definately mention it to all the freshers karl, (i.e. in a one of the first CAD lectures)
