If you’re a first or second year, will you be coming? If so, why? If not, why not???
Ok Karlos, just to get the ball rolling…. Pick out your 5 best tips for producing a top notch poster…
Im thinking….
1. Strong perspective visual (obviously)
2. Product identification (logo)
3. Descriptive layout (not too much though)
4. Backdrop image (to give depth to poster/tie it together)
5. Symmetry of layout
OK Stockers,
Thats a pretty good list, have you seen my “Dummy’s Guide to a Degree Show Poster”? Its on UDo under 6PD999. People should come and see me at least three times two or three weeks before the show so we can revise and revise, thats the key.
There’s a magic ingredient also, its called flare, individual flare. Come on, surprise me!!! Karl
Here’s another question for you, aimed at the third years. Why have I only seen about five people to give advice on your display posters for the degree show??? Whats going on??? Karl
Congratulations are due to all those exhibiting at this year’s show, standards are up once again. Get out there and make the most of your talents! Thanks to Karl for the work he has put into the organisation.
Thank you karl, terry and mike for all your hard work this year. Its great that u all share a passion as lecturers, has been a real inspiration to me throughout the 3rd year. (even that bloody MOPD module!!!).
All the pics look great
Steve
Karl, Terry and Mike. let me first say thankyou for your support through the last couple of years. You have been an excellent example of how lecturers should be. It has been a very emotional time and quite turbulent. had it not been for you three I would’ve left. but because you pushed me I have achieved many things. And yet you still push and I still improve. I have great faith in you guys and all students coming up through the stages should take note that you are very knowledgable and approachable.
Just a word of warning to those students who think they know it all….you don’t and you will be broadsided by these guys.
Listen learn and enjoy.
Thankyou.
Cheers for the vote of confidence Paul.
Well done to everyone who took part in the Degree Show, you all should be proud of what you have achieved, Well Done.
Don’t forget to visit us at the New Designers!!!
Karl
I’d like to echo what Paul said about the help offered. Looking back at first year work it makes you realise how much we’ve actually learned in the three years
What were your thoughts on this years degree show then Karl? i have to say no disrespect to previous years but the standard of work from the majority has raised the bar up a notch
Thanks Mark,
Good to get some positive feedback. I thought the show was very good. After the bump in the road that was the CAPD ‘3′ assignment there was some industry standard stuff there, and a fair few of your year group have already got jobs!
After CAPD ‘3′ I was a bit worried about the New Designers, I can honestly say I’m not now, I’m looking forward to it!
I definitely have to agree with paul and mark’s comments…Karl, Terry and Mike thanks for your support throughout, it has been very much appreciated. You’ve all certainly given me the confidence, motivation and self-belief to succeed.
Cheers to the five of you who were at new designers (quality week!) and to those who came to show their support.
As for Mitch’s photo’s….c’mon Karl we’re all thinking it….re-write the blurb!!
